How to Measure Curtains – A Simple Guide

If you’re looking for made-to-measure curtains in Menorca, having a rough idea of your window size helps us give you an initial guide price quickly. Don’t worry — final measurements are always taken by us during a home visit.

What you’ll need

  • A tape measure

  • A photo of the window (very helpful)

Step 1: Measure the width

Measure the total width of the window or the area you would like the curtains to cover, not just the glass.

If there is already a track or pole, measure from end to end.

👉 Tip: Curtains usually look best when they extend beyond the window frame, helping with light control and creating a more generous feel.

Step 2: Measure the height

Measure from:

  • Ceiling to floor (for ceiling-mounted tracks), or

  • Top of the pole or track to the floor

Let us know if the curtains will finish:

  • At the floor

  • Just above the floor

  • With a slight puddle

Step 3: Note the room and orientation

Tell us:

  • Which room the curtains are for (living room, bedroom, etc.)

  • Whether the room gets strong sun, heat or wind

  • If privacy or blackout is important

This helps us advise on fabric weight, lining and finish, particularly for Menorca’s climate.

For blackout or bedroom curtains

If you are measuring for bedrooms, note whether you would like:

  • Full blackout

  • Dim-out

  • Privacy with light filtering

We can then recommend the most suitable lining and track option.

For outdoor curtains or cushions

For outdoor areas, simply measure the seating width and depth, or send us a photo. We will advise on suitable outdoor fabrics and foam options designed for exterior use.

Not sure? That’s completely normal.

These measurements are only to help us provide an initial estimate.

All curtains, headboards, bed valances and cushions are professionally measured before production to ensure a perfect fit.

👉 Send us a photo and your approximate measurements, and we’ll guide you from there.
